The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Consulate in Canada under the leadership of Consul General Fitzgerald Huggins continues to source much needed supplies for this country’s public health sector.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Commerce Hon Sir Louis Straker, on Thursday November 7th 2019, handed over a donation of twelve fetal heartbeat dopplers to the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment. The devices are used to monitor the heartbeat of fetuses inside the womb and are very critical in the delivery of healthcare.

Speaking at a brief handing over ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Conference Room yesterday, the Foreign Affairs Minister said that the items are much needed. Sir Louis further commended the Heads of SVG’s Overseas Missions who continue to work hard and to partner with the country’s various International allies to help to contribute to the development of this country.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment, Mr Cuthberth Knights and Sister Suzette Jackson received the donation on behalf of  the Ministry. P.S Knights thanked the donors for the gesture noting that the devices are valuable and critical in the healthcare system and the staff of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital where they would be used will ensure that they are handled with care.

The donation today from the Supreme Medical Company of Canada through SVG’s Council General in Toronto Canada Fitz Huggins is just one in a series of contributions made to this country which have included in the past, fire trucks, ambulances, hospital beds, mattresses and wheel chairs etc.
