Students of the St. Mary’s R.C. School now know a bit more about the Republic of Poland following a recent cultural exchange.

Chargé D'affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Caracas, Venezuela, Miss Milena Łukasiewicz and Honourary Consul of the Republic of Poland in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Mr. Julian Jack spearheaded the exchange.

Honourary Consul Jack introduced Poland as “a member of the European Union noting that St. Vincent and the Grenadines has relations with Poland diplomatically.”  Jack said the relations are “deepening in various areas and we believe that one of the ways we can strengthen those relations is by beginning to introduce you to Poland – its history, its culture, its people, etc”.  He described Miss Łukasiewicz as a person who is “very close to St. Vincent and the Grenadines”.

Chargé D 'affaires Łukasiewicz told the students that their meeting was an opportunity for them to learn about Poland so that “tomorrow when someone asks you about Poland” they will be able to share their knowledge.  She expressed her happiness to share her country with them and said, “I really like your country.  It’s very green – you have mountains, you have beautiful seas and this we don’t have in Poland.”

The students viewed short films about Poland’s history and culture.  They had several questions for the Chargé D'affaires about Poland’s traditions, basic greetings, national days and such.  This activity was held on Thursday, November 28th, 2019 at the Alliance Francaise.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the Republic of Poland have had diplomatic ties for over 20 years.
