The signing ceremony to air the drama series “The New World” took place on Thursday 17th January, 2019 at the Taiwanese Embassy between Managing Director of SVGTV Paul Macleish and Ambassador Calvin Ho.
The “New World” drama series will be televised at 8:00 pm every Friday beginning February 1st and will be re-broadcasted Wednesdays at 5:30 pm.
Ambassador of the Republic of China ROC (Taiwan), Calvin Ho told the Media that “the Taiwanese drama series have been broadcasted all over the world.” The Ambassador expressed elation with the commencement of the new drama series here and said “the drama series is definitely part of the cultural exchange,” stressing that one of the embassy’s most important duties is the promotion of cultural exchange. Ambassador Ho said this is just the first series and in the future the Embassy looks forward to bringing more.
Former News Editor of SVGTV, Keisha Phillips in her remarks said, “it is heartening to see SVGBC continuing to keep its mission, by providing high quality and excellent programming to its audience in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.” Phillips also took the opportunity to applaud the ROC (Taiwan) for the step taken to partner with SVGBC to bring this program to the shores of St. Vincent and the Grenadines; she noted too that this will aid in helping Vincentians to learn more about the culture of Taiwan.
Phillips also recognized the contribution the ROC (Taiwan) has made to the growth and development of St. Vincent and the Grenadines through “various activities, initiatives and projects; especially educationally and culturally.”
Marketing Manager of SVGTV, Keisha Billingy said the presentation would be in English and this would make it easier for most Vincentians to view. Billingy revealed the program consists of twenty-four episodes and said, “this is the beginning of what we hope to be a successful partnership with the ROC (Taiwan).”
Members of the media got a first preview of the Drama Series, “The New World”, which promises to be filled with suspense, action and drama.
